c) Public Bidding for Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) Tanks
Renovation Proiect, District Project 7309
The District uses three DAF tanks, installed in 1986, to thicken secondary sludge. In
2013, DAF Tank 1 required emergency repairs due to a failure of the rotating skimmer
arms. Subsequent inspection and condition assessment of DAF Tanks 2 and 3 resulted in
recommendations for coating, structural and various modifications to prevent future wear
and corrosion.
The project will primarily include structural and protective coating rehabilitation to DAF
Tanks 2 and 3. However, the project will also include some electrical, control and lighting
upgrades to all tanks.
The project will be advertised on April 1 and 8, 2014. The bids will be opened on April 17,
The construction cost is currently estimated at $500,000. More information will be
presented when the Board is asked to approve the construction contract on May 1, 2014.
