HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.a.3) General Manager Written AnnouncementsBoard Meeting of February 21, 2013 Written Announcements: Staff Updates a) Recent Promotion /Retirement 1) Robert Maroon has been promoted to Shift Supervisor in the Treatment Plant effective February 8, 2013. 2) Ricardo Smith, Machinist, will retire effective February 22, 2013 after 15 years of service. b) Retired General Manager James Kelly to Provide Consulting Services James Kelly, who retired as General Manager in March 2012, has been retained to provide consulting services to Provisional General Manager Curt Swanson until such time as the position of General Manager is permanently filled. Such services will be within the scope of the General Manager job classification and provided on an hourly, as needed basis. Out -of -State Conference Attendance c) International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Education Conference in Charleston, West Virginia From June 23 through June 27, 2013, Right of Way Agent Lisa Robertson will attend the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Education Conference in Charleston, West Virginia. The conference will cover Right of Way Business Ethics & Etiquette, Changing Industry Standards and Regulations, and Leadership Development. Ms. Robertson will be attending the conference on behalf of Chapter 2 as Vice President. Attending this event will enhance Ms. Robertson's professional knowledge in areas directly applicable to her position at the District. In addition, she will earn educational credits towards IRWA's Senior Right -of -Way Agent (SR/WA), the association's highest professional designation. This is a Nationwide Seminar and will not be offered this year in California. No other expenses beyond District staff time are necessary for Ms. Robertson to attend, since the course tuition and travel expenses will be paid by IRWA Chapter 2. Written Announcements February 21, 2013 Page 2 of 2 Source Control d) Caffe Classico Caffe Classico did sign and return the form that was required to reach settlement of the formal enforcement action taken against their manufacturing facility in North Concord for violations of District's Source Control Ordinance and Local Discharge Limits. With receipt of the signed Authorization of Civil Penalties and Waiver of Appeals document, Caffe Classico enters into a compliance schedule with deadlines to meet in order to achieve compliance. Caffe Classico staff have stated their intent to achieve zero discharge status by the initial February 28, 2013 deadline and are working toward this goal. District staff are preparing the Class III Zero Discharge Industrial User Permit so it can be issued in advance of this deadline. Periodic updates on Caffe Classico's progress to meet the compliance schedule deadlines will be provided to the Board.
