Educate the Public About the Environment a. Teaching the public about integrated pest management, organic gardening practices, b. Increasing impact of current educational programs because farm will increase attention to existing CCCSD programs and publications. c. Adding new publications and public relations campaign for CCCSD's educational goals d. Teaching the public about recycled water 2. Getting Citizens to Change Their Behavior a. Educating people does not necessarily change their behavior. The emotional investment in the farm and it's outcomes will cause more people to change their behavior. 3. Protecting the Environment a. Growing food with a very low carbon footprint b. Teaching public how to grow their own food for reduced carbon footprint c. Keeping recycled water out of Suisan Bay by using it on the farm d. Cleaning the recycled water further by filtering it through soil e. Enhancing the ground water and stream water flow health of Walnut Creek and Grayson Creek g. Restoring very poor soil to healthy soil full of organisms h. Providing natural beauty and beautiful smells to surrounding area i. Providing benefits to local air quality by sequestering carbon 4. Beneficial Legislative Attention a. Increasing state and federal dollars for infrastructure for recycled water use b. Increasing public support and demand for recycled water use c. Increasing business support and use for recycled water use 8. Provide Replicable Model for Other Sanitary Districts
