HomeMy WebLinkAbout06.a.1) General Manager Written Announcements6. a. /) Board Meeting of March 1, 2012 Written Announcements: Appointment/Staffing Updates a) Retirement Update Finance Administrator Colette Curtis -Brown will retire on March 30, 2012 after 27 years of service, and Accounting Technician II Ann Chiappelone will retire on March 30, 2012 after 12 years of service. b) Temporary Clerical Help Needed in the Plant Operations Department Due to two clerical employees on medical leave in the Plant Operations Department, retired Administrative Services Supervisor Pat Kast will be working as a temporary employee on an as- needed basis for about one to two months. c) Human Resources Manager Christopher Ko Selected to Serve on Next Generation Taskforce Human Resources Manager Christopher Ko was recently selected by the Executive Director of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA -HR) to serve on the organization's Next Generation Taskforce. The taskforce will develop strategies for increasing the involvement of new Human Resource professionals in the public sector. Staff Conferences/Training d) Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Supervisor Nick Wright to Attend "The Work Truck Show" Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana from March 5 through March 8, 2012 From March 5 through March 8, 2012, Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Supervisor Nick Wright will attend "The Work Truck Show" in Indianapolis, Indiana. This annual conference is the largest fleet truck and equipment show in the United States. In addition to the large vehicle and equipment trade show, Mr. Wright will be attending educational sessions on fleet management, green initiatives for work trucks, recent trends in utility truck chassis, vehicle life cycle analysis, truck specification preparation, and vehicle regulatory compliance. Travel to the conference was specifically listed in the 2011 -12 CSO Travel & Conferences budget. There are sufficient funds to cover the cost of attendance. Written Announcements March 1, 2012 Page 2 of 2 e) Staff Attendance at California Water Environment Association Annual Conference in Sacramento, CA from April 17 -20, 2012 The California Water Environment Association's (CWEA) 84th Annual Conference will be held at the Sacramento Convention Center from April 17 through April 20, 2012. A total of eighteen (18) employees will be attending from the District, with nine (9) attending the full conference. Employees are attending for a variety of purposes: • To attend CWEA Executive Board Meeting, • To attend Collection System Operations, Toxicity, and Operations and Engineering Workshops, • To serve on various committees, and • To attend several relevant meetings such as embracing the challenges of investing in our wastewater infrastructure. The District has also been nominated for the Safety Plant of the Year; and one employee, Lee Sutherland, has been nominated for the CWEA Machinist of the Year.
