Written Announcements February 2, 2012 Page 2 of 2 General Updates d) Businesses in Significant Non - Compliance Federal Pretreatment Regulations require wastewater agencies to publish specified information in the newspaper about businesses that met the criteria of Significant Non - Compliance (SNC) for the prior calendar year. The District has traditionally met this requirement by publishing a notice in the Contra Costa Times in early February. For the first time since this requirement has been in effect, the District will not be publishing any businesses for being in SNC in calendar year 2011. Businesses were cited for violations during 2011 but none of the businesses' compliance status met the SNC criteria. This milestone was accomplished by the efforts of the Environmental Compliance Inspectors' efforts to work with the businesses to return to compliance after a citation, and the commitment of the District's businesses to take the actions needed to avoid SNC status. Staff will continue to work with the businesses they regulate in hopes that this milestone event can be repeated in future years.
