HomeMy WebLinkAbout07.a.5) General Manager Written Announcements7 Board Meeting of September 15, 2011 Written Announcements: Staff Update a) District Recent Staff Promotions The following employees have been recently promoted: Alan Weer has been promoted to the position of Plant Operations Superintendent (Chief Operator) in the Plant Operations Department, effective July 1, 2011. Greg Collins has been promoted to the position of Construction Equipment Operator in the Collection System Operations Department, effective July 18. 2011. Tom Godsey and Paul Seitz have been promoted to the position of Senior Engineer in the Environmental Services Division, effective August 15, 2011. Financial /Grants b) Federal Emergency Management Agency Earthquake Retrofit Grant Program The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides grant funds under the Pre - Disaster Mitigation Program (PDM) for seismic retrofitting. This is a competitive grant for money. In California, PDM applications are reviewed and forwarded to FEMA by CaIEMA, the California branch of FEMA. The first step is submitting a Notice of Intent to CaIEMA. If accepted, the applicant then prepares the grant application. The application is submitted to CalEMA who forwards the application to FEMA. A national review team reviews the applications from the entire nation and the process is very competitive. We have missed the filing deadline for 2012 grants. As our seismic program will likely span a number of years, we can apply for a 2013 grant at the Board's direction.
