Written Announcements July 21, 2011 Page 2 of 2 General Updates c) Carol Lane Sewer Relocation In February 2011, a landslide occurred at 1003 Carol lane in Lafayette that adversely affected a District sewer main. Approximately 50 homes are served by this sewer. The landslide was caused by toe erosion from high flows in Las Trampas Creek. District engineering staff and a geotechnical consultant determined that the creek bank was unstable and likely to erode further. Staff recommended relocating the sewer away from the landslide. The sewer main relocation at Carol Lane is included in the Lafayette Sewer Renovation Phase 7 Project. The project was awarded on June 16 and construction has begun at several sites on the project. The Carol Lane site is scheduled for construction in the fall. The new sewer at Carol Lane will be constructed approximately 100' away from the eroding creek bank. The bid cost for construction of the new sewer and appurtenances is approximately $60,000. District staff has negotiated an easement exchange agreement with the property owners, Our Saviors Lutheran Church. The agreement was signed June 7, 2011. Later this year, staff will request the Board to quitclaim the existing easement and accept a new easement for the relocated sewer.
