There were some outstanding questions from the last Board Budget and Finance
Committee meeting which required additional staff research. The questions and
answers are provided below:
Page 6, 160297 Cole Supply Company - What type and quantity of towels
were purchased for inventory?
Two types of towels were purchased for inventory. The Work Horse towels are
used primarily by the mechanical and maintenance shops. These wipers are
used in lieu of rags and are used to clean parts. The Work Horse towels are
$42.53 per case and cost fourteen cents per towel. There are 300 towels per
case. The second type of towel is called bleached towels. These are essentially
paper towels used in all the dispensers around the District (restrooms,
lunchrooms, etc). These are $24.51 per case and cost a little over one-half cent
per towel. There are 4000 towels per case.
2. Page 21, 28581 Dept of Fish and Game - Why does the District pay permit
fees for an aerial crossing in N. Orinda?
The North Orinda Sewer Renovations, Phase2 project includes the renovation of
approximately 4000 feet of pipe_ in the Van Tassel Lane and Tarry Lane area.
Tarry Creek runs between these two roads and the District has sewers that run
parallel to the creek on either side. Additionally, there are about 6 aerial
crossings over tributaries that drain into Tarry Creek. The permit fees to the
Department of Fish and Game are for the "Lake and Streambed Alteration
PermiY' for each of these aerial crossings. The fee covers the review of District
plans, checking the site, if deemed necessary, and includes any constraints such
as time restrictions for construction and mitigation requirements.
