SUBJECT:
March 12, 2007 Finance Committee Meeting
There were two outstanding questions from the last Board Budget and Finance
Committee meeting which required additional staff research. The questions and
answers are provided below:
1. Is the District required to file IRS Form 990 for the Deferred Compensation
Plan?
No, the District was required to file IRS Form 5500 for its Deferred Compensation
Plans. Starting in tax year 2004, the IRS indicated that the Form 5500 should no
longer be filed.
2. 164990 - Coral Energy Resources - Was the natural gas usage for January
higher than normal?
No, it was about the same as the November usage. December usage was
actually lower than normal because there was a three-day shut down of co-gen
(which uses natural gas). Higher landfill gas was used in December to
compensate for the shut down.
