CALL MEETING TO ORDER Member Nejedly called the meeting to order at 3 p.m. 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. 3. CLAIMS MANAGEMENT a. Report on claim with the California Department of Transportation for $122,714. COMMITTEE ACTION: Accepted report and noted their appreciation of California Department of Transportation's response. 4. REPORTS/ANNOUNCEMENTS COMMITTEE ACTION: Staff announced that the information requested by the Committee regarding services and costs provided by Occhione Landscaping Company will be presented at the next Committee meeting. Review May 2008 Financial Statements COMMITTEE ACTION: Recommended Board approval of Financial Statements. 6. REVIEW EXPENDITURES COMMITTEE ACTION: There were three outstanding questions regarding the services provided by Expert Tree Service for $9,636.25, why staff did not provide the safety training provided by Proactive Safety & Training for $2,400, and why District vehicles were purchased from Ellis Brooks Chevrolet. These items will be brought back to the Committee at the next scheduled meeting. Recommended Board approval of Expenditures. 7. Kelly General Manager Central Contra Costa Sanitary District 5019 Imhoff Place Martinez, CA 94553 Dear Mr. Kelly: This letter is in response to your correspondence requesting the California Department of Transportation (Department) to assist in the resolution of Claim # 056785 that was submitted by your agency to the California Victim Compensation and Government Claims Board (VCGCB) for the repair of a 21-inch sewer pipe near Lancaster Road and Westwood Court in Walnut Creek. The Department has reviewed the claim with supporting documentation and determined that the claimed amount of $122,713.76 for reparation ofthis sewer pipe appears reasonable. In light ofthis concurrence, the Department agrees to proceed with settling the claim in the amount of $122,713.76. We will inform VCOCB of our determination to expedite settlement of Claim # G56785.
