MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR BOARD MEETING
OF THE DISTRICT BOARD OF THE CENTRAL CONTRA
COSTA SANITARY DISTRICT HELD ON MARCH 21, 1985
The District Board of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District
convened in an adjourned regul ar session at the Contra Costa Water
District, Concord, County of Contra Costa, State of California, on
March 21, 1985 at 1:30 p.m.
The Secretary of the District noted the attendance of the following
Board Members:
I. ATTENDANCE
PRESENT: Members: Carl son, Dalton, Clausen, Boneysteele
ABSENT: Members: Stanley
Member Stanley had indicated previously he would be unable to attend
this meeting and requested that he be excused.
II.
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT JOINT STUDY SESSION
The County Solid Waste Commission conducted a study session of the
Central Contra Costa Sanitary District/Contra Costa County Draft Sol id
Waste Management Project Report as follows:
Mr. Roger J. Dolan, General Manager-Chief Engineer, performed
introductions of District and County staff and presented an update of
project events.
Mr. David Ok ita, of Contra Costa County, summarized the existing
situation in Contra Costa County and described sol id waste management
alternatives.
Mr. James M. Kelly, Solid Waste Management Project Manager,
discussed landfills, transfer stations, and the public participation
portion of the study.
Mr. Okita presented resource recovery alternatives including
curbside recycling, composting, drop-off/buy-back recycling and
waste-to-energyoptions. Mr. Okita concluded the staff presentation with
a summary of the study findings and conclusions.
Solid Waste Commission Chairperson, June Bulman, opened the meeting
to questions from Commission Members and members of the audience.
At the concl usion of the question-and-answer period, staff was
directed to return to the Solid Waste Commission with responses to the
questions raised today. The Commission will act on the Draft Solid Waste
Management Project Report at that time.
III.
ADJOURNMENT
At 4:55 p.m., the meeting was adjourned.
