MINUTES OF THE ADJ OJRNED REGULAR BOARD MEETING
OF THE DISTRICT BOARD OF THE CENTRAL CONTRA
COSTA SANITARY DISTRICT HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1988
The District Board of the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District
convened in an adjourned regular meeting at its regular place of meeting,
5019 Imhoff Place, Martinez, County of Contra Costa, State of California,
at 3:10 p.m. on September 8,1988.
President. Rainey called the meeting to order and requested that the
Secretary call roll.

Member Carlson had previously advised staff that he would be unable
to attend this meeting and requested that he be excused.

PUBLIC COMMENTS
None
III.
TREATMENT PLANT
1.
BOARD WORKSHOP ON TREATMENT PLANT HYDRAULIC FLON
Mr. Roger J. Dolan, General Manager-Chief Engineer, welcomed the
Board to the second in a .series of three workshops dealing with
wastewater treatment. The first workshop dealt with regul atory standards
and compliance. This workshop will cover the Treatment Plant hydraulic
flow, processes, .and equipment. Mr. Dolan introduced Mr. Charles W.
Batts, Pl ant Operations Department Manager, who described the flow of
wastewater through the various pl ant processes until it finally flows
through the outfall into Suisun Bay or through the fl1 ter pl ant - to be
used as reclaimed water. Mr. William Brennan, Plant Operations Division
Manager, discussed nitrification, a variation of the activated 51 udge
process. Mr. Randy Grieb, Associate Engineer, described the operation of
the filter plant and other systems used in the water reclamation process.
President Rainey commended the Plant Operations Department staff on
the interesting and informative presentations. The Board requested
additional workshops and tours of the Collection System Operations
Department and pumping stations. Mr. Dolan indicated that staff would be
happy to arrange the workshops and tours.
At 4:10 p.m., President Rainey indicated that she was not feeling
well, turned the meeting over to President Pro Tem Boneysteele, and
requested to be excused.

At this time, the Board adjourned for a tour of the Treatment Plant
facil ities. The Board returned to the Board Room at the hour of 5 :42
p.m.

There being no further business to come before the Board, President
Pro Tem Boneysteele adjourned the meeting at the hour of 5 :43 p.m.
